Neck Pain

Most people will experience some form of neck pain in their life. Although felt in the neck, neck pain is often caused by problems in other areas of the spine. It’s important to know what is causing your neck pain so it can be managed and treated effectively.

TREATMENTS FOR NECK PAIN

If acute or chronic neck pain is preventing you from living and loving your life, it is time to talk to a doctor. There are many safe and effective treatments available to relieve your neck pain.

Epidural Steroid Injections

involves injection of a steroid medication using an x-ray around the spinal discs and nerves to reduce pain and inflammation while increasing function and mobility.

Facet Block/Medial Branch Nerve Block

is a diagnostic procedure to determine if a patient’s neck or back pain is coming from the facet joints or arthritis. It is used primarily to determine if a patient is a candidate for radiofrequency ablation, but it itself can also provide long-term relief. It involves injecting a numbing agent using an x-ray into or around the facet joints.

Joint Injections

use a combination of numbing and steroid medication to relieve pain from an injury, arthritis, tendonitis, and more.

Ketamine Infusions

delivery of an anesthetic drug intravenously to block the NMDA receptors to “reboot” pain receptors that are functioning abnormally in chronic pain syndromes. It is also used for depression.

Nerve Blocks

involve the injection of a numbing medication around nerve(s) to block pain signals.

Pain Pumps

are a form of neuromodulation where medication is delivered directly into the spinal fluid and to the spinal cord.

Radiofrequency Ablation (Rhizotomy)

reduces pain by using electrical signals to prevent nerves from transmitting pain signals. This is most commonly used for the treatment of arthritis of the neck or low back, and also hip or knee pain.

Spinal Cord Stimulation

is a form of neurostimulation used to treat pain affecting the back, arms, or legs. It involves placing electrodes next to the spinal cord and using electrical signals to block pain signals.

Stellate Ganglion Block

is an injection of numbing medication around the plexus of nerves that innervate the upper extremities used to treat complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS).
