Head Pain

Head pain (or headaches) can interfere with both your physical and mental activities. While many headaches go away on their own or with the use of over-the-counter pain medication, some headaches are a symptom of a more serious issue. It’s important to know what type of head pain you are experiencing so it can be managed and treated effectively.

TREATMENTS FOR HEAD PAIN

If frequent or chronic headaches are disrupting your ability to live and enjoy your life, it is time to talk to a doctor. There are safe, effective treatment options available to both prevent and relieve your head pain.

Stellate Ganglion Block

is an injection of numbing medication around the plexus of nerves that innervate the upper extremities used to treat complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS).

Sphenopalatine Ganglion Block

involves the injection of a numbing agent to relieve headaches or facial pain.

Radiofrequency Ablation (Rhizotomy)

reduces pain by using electrical signals to prevent nerves from transmitting pain signals. This is most commonly used for the treatment of arthritis of the neck or low back, and also hip or knee pain.

Peripheral Nerve Stimulationa

is a form of neurostimulation that uses low-voltage electrical current to block or weaken pain signals by placing electrodes next to peripheral nerves in the extremities.

Nerve Blocks

involve the injection of a numbing medication around nerve(s) to block pain signals.

Medication Management

involves working with your physician to find the preventative or pain-relieving medication that best manages your pain.

Ketamine Infusions

delivery of an anesthetic drug intravenously to block the NMDA receptors to “reboot” pain receptors that are functioning abnormally in chronic pain syndromes. It is also used for depression.

Botulinum Injections (Botox)

are an FDA-approved and effective treatment for people experiencing chronic migraines and cervical dystonia.
