The Pain Relief
You’ve Been Searching For
If you’ve tried other treatments, like surgery or medications, and your pain persists, it’s time to consider spinal cord stimulation. Jax Spine & Pain Centers is proud to be a Center of Excellence for Spinal Cord Stimulation.
Spinal cord stimulation is a form of neurostimulation treatment that involves electrically interrupting the pain signals that travel through the nerves in the spinal cord. The therapy prevents the pain signals from reaching the brain and therefore the brain does not perceive the pain, which results in pain relief.
Spinal cord stimulation is effective in treating conditions that predominantly deal with the spine, including chronic neck or back pain and post surgical neck or back pain. It is also a great option for patients who are not a candidate for surgery due to coexisting medical conditions or for patients for whom it is unclear if surgery will provide relief.
Spinal cord stimulation is also effective in treating pain from a failed surgery in almost any part of the body, including ankle, knee, and hernia. Additionally it is a great treatment option for nerve pain stemming from conditions like spinal stenosis, peripheral neuropathy, and complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) I or II. To find out if your pain can be relieved from spinal cord stimulation, schedule an appointment with one of our physicians.
There are three major benefits to spinal cord stimulation:
With the spinal cord stimulation trial, you will wear a temporary device for 5-7 days. This trial allows you to feel and experience exactly how the therapy will work for you.
During this time, we want you to go about your normal life. We will check in regularly to see how your pain is doing. Is your pain better? Are there activities that you can now do that you couldn’t before?
At the end of the trial, we will review and discuss your experience. Depending on how the therapy worked for you, we may recommend a permanent implant. Ultimately, the decision is up to you. We want you to feel completely comfortable with your choice.
