EXPLORE OUR APPROACH

The foundational principle of chiropractic and rehabilitative services is that the body can heal itself when given the right tools and support. We’ll complete a complete evaluation discussing your symptoms and determining a custom treatment plan.

Dr. Fierro has extensive education, training, and experience treating patients with disk herniation, plantar fasciitis, and sciatica. Our process is patient focused to ensure everyone understands their conditions and options, and feels like they are part of developing their custom care plan.

We specialize in:

Disk Herniation

Disc herniation, or slipped disc, is a common cause of back pain. Most people remember the exact moment of injury because it resulted in a sharp, shooting pain radiating into an arm or a leg. In severe cases, herniated discs can pinch on a nerve root, creating numbness, tingling, or weakness in the extremity.

People frequently use the following terms interchangeably to describe a herniated disc: slipped, bulging, ruptured, or protruding disc. This condition is often found in men between the ages of 30 and 50, but can occur in any population and age group.

When sciatica is left untreated and symptoms do not resolve on their own, you may be left with worsening pain and long-term complications.

Plantar Fasciitis

Your foot is made up of three bony segments and your fascia is a thick tendinous tissue that runs from your heel bone into the ball of your foot. The plantar fascia provides support for your arch and absorbs shock and energy like a spring. It allows your foot to move efficiently when you take a step while walking or running.

A strong, flexible, and springy plantar fascia is needed for normal movement. Due to chronic micro tears of the fascia from repetitive stress, the thickened and degenerative tissue creates stiffness in your foot causing you to walk abnormally. Chronic degeneration of the plantar fascia will cause you to avoid moving your feet and add to your immobility and pain.

Sciatica

Sciatica is a medical term used to describe nerve pain that starts in your lower back and travels down into the back of your leg. It’s not just any low back pain, this lumbar radiculopathy, or pinched nerve, demonstrates specific signs and symptoms that a physician can identify after a thorough history and physical examination.

Sciatica is typically the result of compression of the nerve roots. This compression can happen from sitting in poor posture for a long time or lifting heavy objects incorrectly. You can irritate any or all of the individual nerve roots from L4 through S3 and experience pain, numbness or tingling, and weakness in either or both of your legs.

When sciatica is left untreated and symptoms do not resolve on their own, you may be left with worsening pain and long-term complications.
