“I was initially drawn to Pain Medicine through the encouragement of senior faculty during my residency. I decided to pursue a subspecialty fellowship because I enjoyed the novelty of patient conditions and utilizing the art of medicine to solve unique problems. The number of conditions we can treat without general anesthesia and surgery is expanding, and it really is an exciting time to practice in this forward-looking field.”
Dr. Salek is originally from the Chicago area though he spent four years in Jacksonville for his medical residency and still calls the First Coast “home.” He is an active person who loves the outdoors, live music, reading, and travel. He spent many years living in Colorado before joining Jax Spine. As an Eagle Scout, he enjoyed camping, hiking, and skiing in the Rockies. Dr. Salek has volunteered on trips to Nepal, Tanzania, and Mexico to help staff medical clinics and build sustainable housing for the underserved.
