Here’s what to expect with The Vertiflex Procedure.
The Vertiflex Procedure with Superion is an outpatient procedure that uses local anesthesia. Food and drink are prohibited eight hours before your appointment time.
For the Vertiflex Procedure, you will be positioned face down on your stomach, and a local anesthetic will be administered. The physician will use real-time fluoroscopic guidance throughout the procedure. A small incision will be made in your lower back. The physician will then insert a small implant (the Superion® Indirect Decompression System) that will spread the compressed vertebrae apart, relieving pressure on the surrounding nerves. The incision will then be closed. The procedure itself takes about 20-30 minutes.
Most patients feel some relief right away, but full recovery is typically six weeks.
